David Brotman was born June 4, 1875 in Tarnof, Galicia, according to his naturalization petition. He arrived in New York City on September 19, 1889, with his brother Abraham aboard the Obdam via Hamburg to Rotterdam. According to the ship manifest, he was born in Grembow, Russland.
He was residing at 85 Ridge Street with his father Joseph and his stepmother Bessie as well as their children as of 1897, when he married Annie Salpeter on June 30, 1897.
David was a tailor and then a cloak dealer in Brooklyn, listing himself as a storekeeper on his naturalization petition in 1917. He and Annie resided at 143 Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn as of 1917 and in 1920, but I have not found them on either the 1930 or 1940 census yet. David and Annie do not appear to have had any children.
David died of hypertension on October 9, 1946.
