Anyone who knows me at all and anyone who reads this blog regularly knows how much I love my pets. In fact, I just listed my love of animals as one of seven things to know about me. So you will know that losing one of my pets is heartbreaking for me. This one was particularly difficult.
Luna was only six, and as far as we knew, she was healthy and feeling fine. Nothing seemed wrong—-she was playful, eating, purring, and being her always sweet and affectionate self. But something was wrong with her heart, and without warning, she died in her sleep earlier this week.
I have written more about Luna here Luna pdf for anyone who is interested. There is a slideshow of her life with her brother Smokey (the gray and white one) and her canine companion Cassie and some of her people here. I wrote and created these because they help me deal with losing her, so I am not posting the full text here or a lot of pictures, but I am including the links here so I have a record myself and can look back when I want.
For anyone who is also a cat lover, you should know that she was one of the very special ones.

I am so sorry for your loss.

What a dreadful thing to have happen. I’m so sorry for your loss. Our kitty is 14, and I treasure every day with him because I know he will not be here forever. Luna’s life, while short, was happy for being spent with you.

Dear Cousin Amy, I am so sorry for your loss of Luna. I had a beloved cat named Snickers who also died suddenly and unexpectedly of some kind of congestive heart failure. It was such a shock and left a big hole in our family. Have an easy fast and take your time to mourn.

Hava, I am so sorry about Snickers. Your comment made me feel a little better because I have been worrying that I just missed something. But as our vet said, sometimes these things just happen with no warning. It’s awful. But at least I know it was out of our hands.
Hope you are enjoying your new place. Have an easy fast. And thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.

So sorry Amy. I’m a big cat person and having lost my first two cats some years ago and having adopted the lovely ten year old Sam I know how loved pets are and what a loss it is. You have lots of lovely memories though, keep them close to your heart. X

So sorry to hear this Amy. Our cat is 16+ and will probably leave us soon. It will most likely be hardest on my youngest as they have a special bond.
